I am Katherine Day Reinleitner, PhD FICPP., a licensed clinical psychologist I have had a private practice on the east side of Lake Washington since 1976. Generally, I see children and their families for a wide variety of behavioral and emotional problems as well as such long term issues as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders. I work with families, schools and daycare providers to help to give children and their families the best chance for an optimum experience in their living situation, academic opportunities, vocational choices, and most of all, their relationships with those they love and who love them.
I use psychological testing to help me determine where the individual is now, and to track progress in treatment. I also use it to help me communicate with physicians and educators, if the family wants me to do that. Although trained in traditional psychotherapy, I utilize many Cognitive/Behavioral strategies to help people take control of their lives. I have had over 400 post graduate hours in Pharmacology, and passed the national examination in that discipline, to help me understand and teach this complex subject. Many people want to know more about how medications might enable them to feel better faster, or to maintain their emotional equilibrium, even in the face of a diagnosis of a major mental disorder. I have been teaching psychopharmacology in continuing education programs for physicians and others since 1996, and I am a member of the Board of Directors of the International College of Prescribing Psychologists, as well as serving on their Education and Training Committee.
I have a particular interest in helping people who want to improve their health and appearance by losing weight, or having cosmetic surgery. We are just now understanding more about why some people can eat just about anything and remain slim, while others gain weight despite eating “well.” or lose weight only to regain it again quickly. I was one of those people until eighteen years ago, when I lost 50% of my body weight, and have maintained that ever since. I know how challenging it is, and how satisfying.
Thank you for considering me as someone who might be able to help you reach your goals of a more satisfying family life, better relationships with others, and more joy in every day.
